Giving up smoking, reducing your alcohol intake, decreasing caffeine drinks and cutting down on processed foods are some important steps you can take to detoxing and cleansing your body.  Spring cleaning our bodies is an essential part of shedding our winter coats and preparing for the summer months.

Spring is a great time to start exercising outdoors and take advantage of the warmer weather. Take exercise outdoors and go jogging at the beach, join a summer boot camp, go swimming or bushwalking. Other fun outdoor activities include beach volleyball, horse riding, rock climbing, tennis, kayaking and surfing. This is a great way to burn calories while having a lot of fun in the process.

It’s not the calories you’re monitoring but incidental calories which may add to your calorie count and contribute to excess calories.

For weight loss, it’s best to balance a cardio workout with a weights program to increase your metabolism so you burn more calories. The countdown to summer is on so grab your shorts and singlet and head off to the gym, your local park or to the beach. Whether you’re exercising in the gym or outdoors, in a group or individually, make sure you warm up your muscles, and leave time for a cool down with a period of stretches.
